WHEREAS, a Disability Determinations
Unit was established as a unit of state government within the Executive Office
of the Governor on April 12, 1979; and
WHEREAS, there continues to be a need
for the important services provided by the Disability Determinations Unit; and
WHEREAS, in order to be in compliance
with the federal government's nomenclature, it is deemed appropriate to rename
this office to be the Disability Determinations Service; and
WHEREAS, the 2020 Blue Ribbon Taskforce
recommended that the Disability Determinations Service (DDS) be transferred and
consolidated within the Idaho Department of Labor; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the
Department of Labor has served as interim Director of the DDS since July, 2002,
which has resulted in cost savings and administrative efficiencies; and
WHEREAS, the transfer of the DDS to the
Idaho Department of Labor will further streamline state government and provide
more efficient state services to the people of Idaho.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK
KEMPTHORNE, Governor of the State of Idaho, by the authority vested in me under
the Constitution and laws of this state do hereby transfer the Disability
Determinations Service to the Idaho Department of Labor.
This Executive Order repeals and replaces Executive Order No. 99-10
IN
WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great
Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this second day of June in
the year of our Lord two thousand and three, and of the Independence of the
United States of America the two hundred twenty-fifth and of the Statehood of
Idaho the one hundred eleventh.
