GOVERNOR RISCH ANNOUNCES 36 COMMUNITY COLLABORATION CONTRACTS

BOISE - Governor Jim Risch announced today that 36 Community Collaboration Contracts totaling $175,949.85 were awarded to projects that will serve people in 43 counties across Idaho.

This is the fifth year Community Collaboration Contracts have been awarded to assist communities in their efforts to maximize their resources to improve services to families and children in their local area. The awardees for 2006-2007 include:

Community Collaboration projects address a variety of topics including parental education, literacy, family violence, immunization, and teen mentoring, among many others.

Contracts of up to $5,000 were awarded through a competitive process. Organizations submitted applications for projects or initiatives that served a specific need in their community and targeted high-risk children, youth and families. The projects receiving awards also had to demonstrate how their project involves collaboration between organizations, businesses, government, and schools. The contracts are effective September 1, 2006 through August 31, 2007.

Funds for the Community Collaboration Contracts are received by the state each year from the federal Department of Health and Human Services’ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families & Children program.
