NEW DISTRICT 2O SENATOR TO BE
CHOSEN BY OTTER

BOISE – Governor Jim Risch said today that Legislative District 20 chair Julie Pipal notified him that the following nominees, ranked in order of preference, have been selected for consideration by the governor to replace Senator Gerry Sweet from District 20.

1. Rep. Shirley McKague
2. Marv Hagedorn
3. Ron Burnham

The legislative district committee met Thursday evening and selected the three nominees. The governor has 15 days to appoint a replacement from the list upon receipt of the nominees.

Governor Risch said he has discussed the issue with Governor-elect Otter and the two agreed that Risch would hold the appointment until January 1, 2007, when Otter takes office. Governor Otter would then make the appointment before January 7.

The 2007 legislative session begins on January 8.
