RISCH APPOINTS LANSING HAYNES COEUR D’ALENE – Governor Jim Risch today announced the appointment of Lansing L. Haynes as a District Judge for the First Judicial District. The appointment is effective immediately and is a new judicial seat approved by the Legislature in the 2006 session. Haynes is currently the Chief Deputy Prosecutor for Kootenai County, and has worked for the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office since 1988. Haynes has been involved in his community for decades, where he is a member of several organizations such as the Idaho Bar Association, Kootenai County Bar Association, Idaho Prosecuting Attorney’s Association, National District Attorney’s Association, and the Governor’s Task Force on Drug Endangered Children. Haynes is also an officer in his local Knights of Columbus organization. “The Judicial Council sent me three well qualified candidates for
consideration to fill this appointment. I have decided to appoint Lansing Haynes
to the bench in the First Judicial District,” said Governor Risch. “With
northern Idaho growing at such a rapid rate, and having been a former
Prosecuting Attorney myself, I recognize that Landy shares my concern for public
safety issues and will do an excellent job on the bench.” Haynes began his law career as a Deputy Prosecutor for Canyon County and also worked as a Deputy Public Defender for Ada County. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1988. Haynes is a graduate of The College of Idaho and received his Juris Doctorate from Willamette College in 1982. He is married, has two children and three grandchildren. Idaho is divided into seven judicial districts. The First Judicial District encompasses the five northern most counties of Idaho: Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, and Shoshone. With this appointment, there will 6 judges serving in the First Judicial District. ### |
