RISCH APPOINTS HELEN EDWARDS (BOISE) Governor Jim Risch today appointed former Gooding County Clerk Helen Edwards to fill the vacant County Commissioner seat vacated by Thomas Bingham. Governor Risch praised Edward’s previous public service as an assistant Recorder, Deputy Auditor and most recently Gooding County Clerk. “Helen’s extensive background in county government makes her an outstanding choice to fill this seat.” Risch said. Edwards, a longtime resident of Gooding, has been in public service for 23 years, and retired as Gooding County Clerk in February. In her capacity as County Clerk Edwards worked closely with the Board of Commissioners. Edwards initially retired in order to spend more time with her family, but has found herself interested again in serving the people of Gooding County. “My continuing interest in the issues that face not only county governments, but also the cities and the State of Idaho sparked my interest in running for commissioner” Edwards stated. Edwards resides in the town of Gooding with her husband Lee. They have 7 grown children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. ### |
