GOVERNOR AND FIRST LADY ANNOUNCE BOISE - Governor Jim Risch and First Lady Vicki Risch are reminding organizations that help strengthen families and marriages that the deadline for funding through Community Collaboration Contracts is near. The application deadline is June 30. Organizations may be awarded an amount up to $5,000 through a competitive process. Projects requesting funding must target high-risk children, youth and/or families, and demonstrate collaboration between community-based organizations, the business sector, public or private schools, faith-based organizations, and government. “Vicki and I deeply believe that strong families are the foundation of our communities and this great state. It is critical that our state and communities work together to help support families. Our Community Collaboration Contracts will allow us to partner with organizations and assist them with funding to deliver a variety of services to meet the needs of today’s families,” said Risch. Community Collaboration Contracts support the development of partnerships to improve the delivery of services that strengthen the family unit. In the past four years, nearly $773,000 has been disbursed to 166 organizations in communities across the state and has supported drug prevention, literacy, teen pregnancy prevention, parent education, family shelters, youth asset development and other family-strengthening programs. To download the application and to learn more, visit www.goc.idaho.gov or contact Kristen Sabala of the Executive Office for Families and Children at (208) 334-2055.
