GOVERNOR RISCH APPROVES DISASTER REQUEST BOISE - Governor Jim Risch declared a disaster emergency in Bonner County yesterday due to flooding from heavy rains on Tuesday. Several road washouts from rain-swollen creeks occurred in the eastern part of the county “Heavy rain and subsequent flooding in parts of Bonner County have caused serious damage to roads and possibly drinking water systems,” said Risch. “At the request of the Bonner County commissioners I have approved the use of state disaster funds to assist them with their repair work.” Governor Risch named General Lawrence Lafrenz as his designee, and Homeland Security Director Bill Bishop as deputy designee, to administer the Disaster Emergency Account funds. The state has committed up to $150,000 for Bonner County. The state will cover 90% of the costs associated with responding to the declared disaster with the county paying the remaining 10%. The state of emergency will exist for a period of thirty days unless it is extended. ### |
