GOVERNOR RISCH INVITES BRIGHTEST STARS Award honors Idahoans who improve the well being of families and children BOISE - Idahoans are invited and encouraged to nominate those they know who are making a positive difference in the lives of families and children for Governor Risch’s Brightest Stars Awards. Nominations can be submitted online at www.brighteststars.idaho.gov or in hard copy by October 30, 2006 to the Office of the Governor. “Our youth are our most valuable resource, and one which we must put first,” said Risch. “We need programs like Brightest Stars to promote and encourage programs and initiatives beneficial to Idaho’s children.” Governor Risch, the Association of Idaho Cities, the Governor’s Coordinating Council for Families and Children, and Serve Idaho are partnering with the Idaho Association of Counties and the local Chambers of Commerce to promote volunteerism that positively impacts children and their families. Examples include literacy or parenting projects, after-school programs, nutrition and obesity prevention, performing arts, sports or recreation programs, violence or substance abuse prevention, and a host of other initiatives that benefit their health, safety, and well being. A Grand Prize winner will be selected by the Governor in each of the four categories; individuals, organizations (service clubs, faith-based, other nonprofits), small businesses and corporations. Those grand prize winners will be presented a certificate and a crystal award by Governor and First Lady Vicki Risch at a special ceremony on Thursday, December 7, 2006. Each nomination that is completed and meets the minimum requirements will receive a special Brightest Stars pin and certificate from the Governor and First Lady at Thursday’s ceremony. To nominate an individual, small business, organization, or corporation for a Brightest Stars Award, go online to www.brighteststars.idaho.gov to complete the nomination form. If you need help with the online process, call Nancy Bernhard at (208) 334-2410. If you need a copy of the form, call the Association of Idaho Cities at (800) 344-8594 or Serve Idaho at (208) 658-2062. ### |
