EARLY CARE AND LEARNING PROMOTES
PARTNERSHIPS IN IDAHO BOISE - Governor Risch announced that the Governor’s Early Childhood Coordinating Council received a grant from the Federal Maternal Child Bureau in the amount of $140,000 to address the needs of young children and families. This money will be distributed throughout the state to address the most pressing issues facing children from birth to the age of eight. “Partnerships are the key,” says director Larraine E. Clayton. “Of the 88 strategies outlined to strengthen families and meet the needs of children in our three year plan, 58 are in the stage of implementation.” The goal is to implement a comprehensive strategic plan across state and local systems that serve children ages 0-8 and their families. The three-year early care and learning plan “Building the Future for Early Care and Learning” establishes the guidelines for systems work that fosters health, child development, parent resources, child care, and family self sufficiency. Idaho worked in conjunction with a number of local and state partners, which led to Idaho being chosen as the recipient of this grant.
