GOVERNOR RISCH PARTICIPATES IN OPENING
OF BANNER BANK BUILDING

Governor Applauds Banner Bank Buildings Ecologically Friendly Construction

BOISE Governor Risch participated in the grand opening of the Banner Bank Building in downtown Boise today. The Christensen Group was recognized for the construction of the building as one of the most energy efficient in the nation. The structure is one of less than twenty in the world to have earned the Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which is the highest level of certification given out by the organization.

“The Christensen Corporation designed and built the Banner Bank Building with local engineers and architects who implemented best practices from around the globe to built an ecologically friendly building,” said Risch. “Gary Christensen had the vision to know that the best and the brightest talent is right here, in Idaho”

The 11-story 190,000 square-foot building uses 60 percent less energy than a typical structure of the same size. It’s unique water reclamation and reuse system collects gray water and storm water runoff from seven acres of downtown Boise to flush the building’s toilets.  The building’s energy efficient design allows natural sunlight to penetrate deep into its core, and allows for superior ventilation and air purity.

“We are pleased to have this day upon us, it is truly historic,” said Gary Christensen. “It has been a long process, but we could not be happier with the outcome, especially considering the environmental uniqueness of this structure.”

The Banner Bank Building is located at 950 W. Bannock Street in Boise, and has been partially occupied since May. For additional information contact the U.S. Green Building Council at http://www.usgbc.org, or call The Christensen Corporation at (208) 333-7007.
