GOVERNOR APPOINTS WASHINGTON COUNTY (BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter today appointed Washington County Commissioner Diana L. Thomas of Weiser to fill the District 9B vacancy in the Idaho House of Representatives left when Clete Edmunson of Council became the Governor’s southern Idaho field representative. Thomas was among three candidates nominated to Governor Otter by the District 9 Republican Legislative Committee following Edmunson’s August 6th resignation. She will resign from the Washington County Commission, on which she has served since 2001, to become a member of the Idaho House. The Washington County Republican Central Committee will nominate up to three candidates within 15 days to succeed Thomas on the commission, and the Governor then will have up to 15 days to name a replacement. Thomas has been active in the Idaho Association of Counties and a number of advisory groups and community organizations in the Weiser and Washington County areas. She is a former schoolteacher and principal with bachelor’s and master’s degrees from what now is Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell. “You don’t get much more attuned to a community and its people than Diana is,” Governor Otter said. “She has the talent, experience, knowledge and ability to make a real difference for the people of District 9 in the Idaho Legislature, and I’m proud to be able to make this appointment.” ### |
