NEW DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION (BOISE) – Newly appointed Idaho Department of Administration Director Mike Gwartney said today that he is seeking efficiencies but is committed to maintaining critical state functions. “We’re not getting rid of purchasing or building services or any other essential functions. If getting those jobs done better and more efficiently means changing to whom people or functions report, then that’s what we’ll do. This is about achieving goals and delivering services for Idaho taxpayers in the best way possible,” Gwartney said. He was appointed by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter to replace Keith Johnson, who accepted an executive position with the computer software company Oracle. Gwartney, a long-time friend and business associate of Governor Otter’s, is a former Boise Cascade executive who led the transition team for Governor Otter after his November 2006 election. He also led the transition team when Otter was first elected to Congress from Idaho’s 1st District in 2000. ### |
