GOVERNOR OTTER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR IDAHO DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE DIRECTOR
(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter is accepting applications from individuals interested in filling the vacancy that will be left by the December 31 retirement of Idaho Department of Insurance Director Bill Deal.
The Department of Insurance was created to regulate the business of insurance in Idaho. State regulation of Idaho’s insurance business began in 1901, and the current Department of Insurance was created in 1961. The director of the department is appointed by the Governor and is subject to confirmation by the State Senate.
Applications will be accepted as outlined at http://gov.idaho.gov/admin/appointment.html through Friday, December 5.
“The successful applicant for this position will have big shoes to fill. Bill Deal has been an exemplary director at the Department of Insurance and an exceptional public servant throughout his career,” Governor Otter said. “I’m looking for someone with unquestioned integrity, a high level of professionalism, and a commitment to responsive administration of the agency and to meeting the needs of Idaho citizens and businesses.”
Deal worked in the insurance industry for 46 years and served eight terms in the Idaho House of Representatives.
