      WHEREAS, the good health and general well-being of the people of Idaho is enhanced by our strong commitment to supporting the stepfamilies of Idaho in their mission to create strong family environments; and

    WHEREAS, approximately half of all Americans are currently involved in some form of stepfamily relationship; and

     WHEREAS, Idaho has been blessed by thousands upon thousands of loving stepparents and stepchildren who are daily reminders of the joys, trials and triumphs of stepfamily life; and

      WHEREAS, Idaho is pleased to join with the nation in celebrating the many valuable contributions stepfamilies have made enriching the lives and life experiences of the children and parents of America;

     NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK KEMPTHORNE, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim September 16, 2002, to be

STEP FAMILY DAY

in Idaho.
