        WHEREAS, an estimated 839,286 Idaho citizens enjoy some form of trail, water or snow based recreation. The purchase and use of the equipment associated with their various forms of sport is a major contributor to our State economy; and

        WHEREAS, the natural features and the recreational facilities enjoyed by our citizens also attract an estimated 22 million non-residents to Idaho for recreational pursuits, thereby contributing an estimated $210,000,000 to the Idaho economy; and

        WHEREAS, the pursuit and enjoyment of these outdoor activities contributes significantly to the health, well-being and lifestyle of our citizens and visitors;

NOW THEREFORE, I JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby declare the week of August 21, 2006 to be

OUTDOORS RECREATION WEEK

        in Idaho and encourage all Idahoans to enjoy their favorite recreation activity, to safeguard and protect the environment, natural features and recreation facilities that contribute to their enjoyment and to make welcome those visitors who come to enjoy a truly memorable recreational experience.
