WHEREAS, sixty-five years ago on December 7, 1941, a brutal attack was perpetrated upon this free land, taking the lives of unsuspecting and innocent victims; and WHEREAS, we remember and dedicate this day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, even that of giving their very lives in service to our country; and WHEREAS, we wish to remember these fallen comrades who gave the full measure of their devotion to the protection of our lives and liberties; and WHEREAS, Idahoans wish to express their respect and reverence for all those dedicated individuals who suffered and died while protecting the United States of America and the ideals and principles upon which it was founded; and WHEREAS, the people of the Gem State seek to demonstrate their appreciation for all that was sacrificed by these honored individuals, and we will never forget their great and unselfish acts of bravery; and WHEREAS, today we remember and recommit ourselves, our families and our communities, to the ideals of freedom and individual worth, for which these men and women gave their lives; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim December 7, 2006, as PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY IN IDAHO
