WHEREAS, the men and women who have
served in the armed forces of the United States of America have shown the
highest form of citizenship in making major contributions through the defense of
our great nation; and
WHEREAS, the service performed by
thousands of Idahoans and millions of other gallant Americans, demonstrates our
citizens’ willingness to meet the challenges of outside forces that wish to
subjugate our nation through armed conflict; and
WHEREAS, every single day Americans,
Idahoans, and all citizens of the free world celebrate the contributions of our
veterans in their own unique way; and
WHEREAS, we as citizens of a free country owe
a debt to those who have served our country proud and paid the price for freedom
with their own lives; and
WHEREAS, this price for freedom is most
visible in areas such as the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK KEMPTHORNE,
Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the week of February 12
through 18, 2006, to be
SALUTE TO HOSPITALIZED VETERANS WEEK
in Idaho, we will never forget the price paid for our freedoms.
IN
WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great
Seal of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this fourteenth day of February in the
year of our Lord two-thousand and six and of the Independence of the United
States of America the two hundred thirtieth and of the Statehood of Idaho the
one hundred sixteenth.
