WHEREAS, Certified Registered
Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are essential to Idaho’s healthcare system, providing
high-quality, cost-effective anesthesia care; and
WHEREAS, CRNAs are anesthesia
specialists who administer approximately 85% of the anesthetics given to
patients each year in the State of Idaho; and
WHEREAS, CRNAs are the sole
anesthesia providers in more than 90% of Idaho’s rural hospitals, affording
those medical facilities obstetrical, surgical, and trauma stabilization
capabilities; and
WHEREAS, Idaho CRNAs practice in
every setting in which anesthesia is delivered: Traditional hospital surgical
suites and obstetrical delivery rooms; the offices of dentists, podiatrists,
ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons; ambulatory surgical centers; U.S.
Military and Public Health Services, and are the sole providers of anesthesia at
the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK
KEMPTHORNE, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim January 22
through 28, 2006 to be
