WHEREAS, June 30, 2006 marks the
centennial of the enactment of the Federal Pure Food and Drug Law and the
creation of the Federal Food and Drug Administration; and
WHEREAS, throughout the past one
hundred years, the food and drug industry, consumers and the scientific
community, with the guidance of the Federal Food and Drug Administration, have
played an important role in the development of higher food, drug, cosmetic and
medical devices standards which provide assurance to the American people that
such products are safe, pure and properly labeled; and
WHEREAS, a number of commemorative
events will be sponsored during 2006 by various organizations of state, local,
and federal officials; and
WHEREAS, today’s state and local
food, drug, medical device and cosmetic laws and their proper administration are
of vital importance to the health and well being of the people of the United
States and of the State of Idaho;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK
KEMPTHORNE, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the month of June
2006 to be
FOOD AND DRUG LAW CENTENNIAL
ANNIVERSARY MONTH
in Idaho.
IN
WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great
Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this seventeenth day of
January in the year of our Lord two-thousand and six and of the Independence of
the United States of America the two hundred thirtieth and of the Statehood of
Idaho the one hundred sixteenth.
