        WHEREAS, nursing homes, home care and other long-term care agencies have accepted the responsibility for providing quality care and a quality of life for the elderly, frail and disabled citizens in our community; and

        WHEREAS, the wellbeing and happiness of these citizens depend in large part on nursing assistants, home care aides, and others who provide daily, conscientious, hands-on care in nursing homes and other long-term care settings; and

        WHEREAS, these career nursing assistants are instrumental in promoting and safeguarding the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being of the residents, clients, and their families; and

        WHEREAS, career Nursing Assistants are trained professionals who collaborate closely with other health care providers to provide quality care;

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the week of June 15 through 22 in the year 2006, to be

N A T I O N A L   N U R S I N G   A S S I S T A N T S ’   W E E K

in Idaho, and I urge all citizens to join with me and others nationwide to celebrate the 29th annual observance of Nursing Assistants Week and to express encouragement and appreciation for the service performed by these caregivers.
