        WHEREAS, Idahoans can enjoy the many water-related recreational opportunities in our great state, from treated aquatic facilities to our rivers, lakes and reservoirs; and

        WHEREAS, Idaho recognizes the vital role that water safety plays in preventing drownings and water-related injuries, and enhancing our enjoyment of water recreational activities; and

        WHEREAS, Idaho recognizes the vital importance of abiding by the rules set forth by trained and certified aquatic professionals who develop water-safety rules with the public’s prudent enjoyment in mind; and

        WHEREAS, the State of Idaho believes that participation in water-safety programs are one of the best ways to promote safe enjoyment of our treated water aquatic facilities, rivers, lakes and reservoirs;

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, as Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby proclaim Idaho’s participation in:

NATIONAL WATER SAFETY WEEK

during the first week of June 2006, and do urge all those in the State of Idaho to support and promote this observance.
