WHEREAS, quality health care is vital
for individuals involved in physical activity; and
WHEREAS, certified athletic trainers
have a long history of providing quality health care for athletes and those
engaged in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge, and skills
acquired through their nationally educated processes; and
WHEREAS, certified athletic trainers provide
prevention of injuries; recognition, evaluation, and immediate care;
rehabilitation; health care administration; and education and guidance; and
WHEREAS, athletic trainers in the State
of Idaho are licensed by the State Board of Medicine; and
WHEREAS, more than 31,000 certified athletic
trainers nationwide are employed in professional sports, colleges and
universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, and corporate and industrial
settings; and
WHEREAS, leading organizations concerned with
athletic training and health care have joined together in a common desire to
raise public awareness of the importance of the athletic training profession and
to emphasize the importance of quality health care for athletes and those
engaged in physical activity within the aforementioned settings; and
WHEREAS, such an effort will improve health
care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity and promote certified
athletic trainers as allied health professionals;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK KEMPTHORNE, Governor
of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the month of March, 2006, to be
NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINER’S MONTH
in Idaho, and I urge all Idahoans to learn of the importance of athletic
training.

Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this first day of March in
the year of our Lord two-thousand and six and of the Independence of the United
States of America the two hundred thirtieth and of the Statehood of Idaho the
