WHEREAS, we, as members of this great
nation, are able to enjoy freedoms granted to us by our founding fathers through
documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the
Constitution of the United States; and
WHEREAS, James Madison, the “father of
the Constitution,” influenced the abolishing of the Articles of Confederation
and helped create the strong form of government that we know today; and
WHEREAS, through James Madison’s
inspiration, generations later we are still enjoying blessings of liberty; and
WHEREAS, James Madison gave his time to
our country serving in different capacities such as in the U. S. House of
Representatives, as Secretary of State of the U.S., and as President; and
WHEREAS, it is important that we set
aside a day to remind us of our freedoms and to honor our founding fathers.
Appropriately this day will coincide with the 255th anniversary of the birth of
James Madison;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK KEMPTHORNE,
Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim March 16, 2006, to be
LIBERTY DAY
in Idaho.
IN
WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great
Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this eighth day of March
in the year of our Lord two thousand and six and of the Independence of the
United States of America the two hundred thirtieth and of the Statehood of Idaho
the one hundred sixteenth.
