WHEREAS, this year MedicAlert, the
nation’s largest nonprofit health informatics organization built around a
repository of health information, is celebrating its 50th year of helping save
lives and reducing pain and suffering; and
WHEREAS, MedicAlert was founded in 1956
by Dr. Marion C. Collins and Mrs. Chrissie Collins of Turlock, California, and
now has more than 4 million members world wide with 10,179 in Idaho; and
WHEREAS, MedicAlert is committed to
providing technology based solutions and is an active member and a leader in
developing interoperability standards with all the major Healthcare IT standard
organizations to provide members with access to their personal electronic health
records 24 hours a day; and
WHEREAS, the MedicAlert Foundation has
provided 50 years of extraordinary service to the people of the United States
and the State of Idaho, saving an estimated 80,000 lives in this country and
providing comfort and assistance to many more with affiliates in nine countries;
and
WHEREAS, today, MedicAlert is depended
upon in times of individual emergencies and natural disasters to provide
critical medical information to medical professionals in their time of need in
order to spare needless pain and suffering due to mistreating unknown medical
conditions;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIRK KEMPTHORNE,
Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim March 26th, 2006, to be
MEDIC ALERT DAY
in Idaho.
IN
WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great
Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this twenty-third day of
November in the year of our Lord two-thousand and five and of the Independence
of the United States of America the two hundred thirtieth and of the Statehood
of Idaho the one hundred sixteenth.
