        WHEREAS, whenever called upon to defend our nation’s security at home or abroad the men and women who serve in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard have responded immediately and effectively, placing national interests above their own; and

        WHEREAS, the peace and accomplishments that our nation today enjoys are due to the efforts and sacrifices our military men and women and their families have endured; and

        WHEREAS, today’s veterans have educational and leadership skills, maturity and a dedication to service fostered by their military experience and want to share these talents with Idaho’s employers; and

        WHEREAS, over 130,000 Idaho residents have military experience and of those, over 15,000 are seeking employment within the State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby proclaim the month of November 2006 to be

HIRE A VETERAN MONTH

in Idaho, and call upon all our citizens to observe this month and all employers to recognize the special skills, abilities and advantages of hiring these veterans and to provide jobs for these highly capable men and women.
