WHEREAS, methamphetamine is a highly addictive and extremely dangerous drug that is affecting the families that form the foundation of the State of Idaho; and WHEREAS, methamphetamine use comes at great cost to law enforcement, corrections, courts, communities and families forced to endure the ugly effects of addiction and dependence; and WHEREAS, it is important to generate awareness about the damaging effects of methamphetamine abuse on individuals, families and American communities; and WHEREAS, education and public outreach are at the heart of the Idaho drug control strategy, and National Methamphetamine Awareness Day will play an important role in highlighting the nationwide efforts to increase awareness and decrease demand of this highly addictive and dangerous drug; and WHEREAS, National Methamphetamine Awareness Day represents a coordinated effort not only to reach potential meth users with a message of prevention, but also to educate current users about the programs available to them; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim November 30th, 2006, NATIONAL METHAMPHETAMINE AWARENESS DAY
