WHEREAS, the historical records of the State of Idaho are crucial to the way we understand our past and plan for the future; and WHEREAS, the maintenance and availability of these records in all formats have been professionally administered by dedicated, yet often unheralded, archivists, clerks, curators, librarians and records managers with the assistance of numerous volunteers; and WHEREAS, the work of these people and importance of historical records programs seldom receive the recognition they deserve. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim October 2006, to be ARCHIVES MONTH in Idaho, and I urge my fellow citizens to participate in the special
activities and learn more about the importance of archives and historical
records in our state.
