WHEREAS, the Declaration
of Independence announced that all Americans are endowed by the Creator with an
undeniable right to life; and
WHEREAS, the Idaho Constitution further declares that all human beings are “by nature free and equal, and have certain inalienable rights, among which are enjoying and defending life…”; and WHEREAS, the duly enacted Laws of the State of Idaho define our public policy to be one of preferring live child birth to abortion; and WHEREAS, abortion results in the loss of a human life; and WHEREAS, every abortion represents a failure of society to properly care for and receive the gift of Life; and WHEREAS, the State of Idaho is pleased to join in efforts aimed at encouraging adoption and other alternatives; and WHEREAS, all people deserve the opportunity to be born and live; and WHEREAS, it is important to protect the lives of all Idaho citizens, including those who are conceived, but are as yet, unborn; and WHEREAS, in addition to many Idahoans, it is my belief that everyone deserves a right to life; and WHEREAS, life is a sacred opportunity on which the future of our state depends; and WHEREAS, Life Chain Sunday is organized to defend Idaho’s preborn citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim October 1st, 2006 to be IDAHO LIFE CHAIN SUNDAY
