        WHEREAS, Taiwan and the State of Idaho are long-term partners in trade, investment, tourism, culture and education; and

        WHEREAS, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, Washington, is an excellent resource for the people of the State of Idaho; and

        WHEREAS, there is frequent exchange between our governments, our citizens, our businesses and our students; and

        WHEREAS, the people of Taiwan have developed strong and lasting bonds of friendship with the people of Idaho; and

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, James E. Risch, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim October 10, 2006, as

TAIWAN DAY

in the State of Idaho.
