WHEREAS, during this year alone, over 77,000 women will be diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer, which is the fourth largest cancer killer of women in the United States; and WHEREAS, the good health and well-being of the women of the State of Idaho is enhanced as a direct result of efforts to spread awareness about gynecologic cancers; and WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon the citizens of Idaho to work together as concerned people and as a State to increase research in understanding the causes, in finding effective screening and prevention strategies, and in developing improved therapies for gynecologic cancers; and WHEREAS, the State of Idaho is pleased to join in recognizing and applauding the valuable role which families and advocates of gynecologic cancer victims play in helping our medical community to advance the fight against these diseases; NOW THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby declare the month of September GYNECOLOGIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
