WHEREAS, a paralegal is a qualified person employed or retained by a lawyer, government agency, or other entity in a capacity or function which involves the performance, under the ultimate direction and supervision of an attorney, or specifically delegated substantive legal work; and WHEREAS, Idaho’s paralegal organizations are actively involved in efforts to promote recognition of the paralegal profession; to provide legal education and training for their members; to encourage and promote a high level of professional achievement and responsibility; and to adhere to a code of ethics; and WHEREAS, the Idaho Alliance of Paralegal Associations, consisting of the Idaho Association of Paralegals, Inc. (Boise) and the Intermountain Paralegal Association, Inc. (Pocatello) provides a single, cooperative voice on issues affecting the paralegal profession in Idaho; and WHEREAS, the State of Idaho, through the Office of the Governor, promotes and encourages a commitment to excellence and professionalism, characteristics exhibited by Idaho’s paralegal organizations. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim September 12th, 2006, to be P A R A L E G A L D A Y in Idaho.
