WHEREAS, collectively, our nation strives to encourage greatness and achievement in our young people; and

        WHEREAS, interest and participation in the sport of soccer are at its highest point ever among our nation’s youth; and

        WHEREAS, soccer provides a great foundation for teamwork; and

        WHEREAS, many of the children in our communities participate in local soccer leagues; and

        WHEREAS, Youth Soccer Month is celebrated in the month of September to help bring attention to the sport of soccer and to encourage and promote physical fitness; and

        WHEREAS, Youth Soccer Month seeks to encourage the values of physical fitness, sportsmanship and family; and

        WHEREAS, the message of Youth Soccer Month mirror those of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and communicates the importance of physical activity/fitness and exercise and their link to good health;

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES E. RISCH, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim September 2006, to be

YOUTH  SOCCER  MONTH

in Idaho.
