WHEREAS, Beta Sigma Phi is a social and cultural sorority in the State of Idaho and throughout the world; and WHEREAS, Beta Sigma Phi was founded in 1931 and is celebrating its 76th anniversary this year; and WHEREAS, the women who belong to this sorority are members for the social and cultural benefits they can obtain, as well as for the opportunity to actively participate in service and charity projects throughout the year; and WHEREAS, Beta Sigma Phi has grown to 250,000 members in 12,500 chapters located in 20 countries worldwide—a group of women working for every known charitable, health and cultural organization, raising money and donating time and effort to those in need everywhere; and WHEREAS, the badge of the organization signifies Life, Learning and Friendship by its Greek symbols—Beta Sigma Phi; and WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that we salute this inspiring organization and all its members throughout Idaho; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim April 30, 2007, to be BETA SIGMA PHI FOUNDERS DAY in Idaho, and I encourage all Idahoans to join with their Beta Sigma Phi sisters in celebrating this day and salute them for their humanitarian efforts to make our great state and nation a better place to live.
