WHEREAS, Canada and Idaho share a tremendous relationship founded in history, culture, security and prosperity; and WHEREAS, the Consulate General of Canada in cooperation with Boise State University, the State of Idaho and the City of Boise continue to celebrate the rich, prosperous relationship between Canada and the United States through events that foster greater understanding, encourage discussion and economic, cultural and academic exchange; and WHEREAS, many U.S. and Canadian citizens recognize the benefits of close cooperation in areas such as security, transportation, commerce, energy and environmental protection; and WHEREAS the 2007 Canada Week events feature a historic visit from the Honorable Michael Wilson the 22nd Canadian Ambassador to the United States of America; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby proclaim April 2-6, 2007 to be CANADA WEEK in Idaho, and on behalf of all Idahoans wish to celebrate our relationship with our Canadian friends and continue to build on our long-standing partnership for the benefit of all our citizens.
