WHEREAS, the loss and suffering wrought by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 affected all Americans; and WHEREAS, one lesson that can be learned from the September 11th terrorist attacks is the importance of understanding among all cultures, creeds, religions and races as Americans; and WHEREAS, a culturally diverse group of citizens in Latah County will gather on Saturday, April 28, 2007 to celebrate unity, tolerance and understanding; and WHEREAS, it is important to recognize events such as those planned in Latah County for the positive impact they can have on our State; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim April 28, 2007 to be WALKING ON COMMON GROUND DAY in Idaho to promote meaningful connections among all people.
