WHEREAS, William Borah served the people of Idaho in the United States Senate
longer than anyone in state history; and
WHEREAS, Senator Borah served in the
U.S. Senate from 1907 until his death in 1940, immeasurably enriching the
history and political legacy of Idaho and its people; and
WHEREAS, William Borah was known at
the highest levels of government around the world as the “Lion of Idaho” and
“the Great Opposer”; and
WHEREAS, William Borah played a
pivotal role through five presidential administrations in shaping the domestic
and foreign agendas of the United States;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH”
OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do
hereby honor the 100th anniversary of Senator William Borah’s service in the
U.S. Senate.

WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great
Seal of the State of Idaho in Coeur d’Alene on this 5th day of December in the
year of our Lord two-thousand and seven and of the Independence of the United
States of America the two hundred thirty-second and of the Statehood of Idaho
