WHEREAS, Pete Cenarrusa was a fixture in Idaho politics for over half a century;
and
WHEREAS, Pete is a dedicated educator, father, husband and Idahoan; and
WHEREAS, he served in the Idaho Legislature for nine terms, three of those as
Speaker of the House; and
WHEREAS, Pete is the longest serving Secretary of State in Idaho history,
serving from 1967 to 2002; and
WHEREAS, he is a lifetime farmer, rancher, woolgrower and has championed
agriculture in all facets of government; and
WHEREAS, he has been acknowledged for his efforts for the Basque people and in
2001 was awarded the “Prestigious Basque of the World” medal ; and
WHEREAS, has devoted a lifetime to the people of Idaho;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby
proclaim December 17, 2007, as PETE T. CENARRUSA
