WHEREAS, The Boise State University Broncos Football team (Broncos) achieved a perfect season with a record of 13-0; and WHEREAS, the Broncos are the Western Athletic Conference Champions; and WHEREAS, the Broncos were able to defeat their Big 12 rivals, the Oklahoma University “Sooners” in overtime at the Fiesta Bowl through sheer force of will, dedication, creativity, skill, teamwork, athleticism and courage; and WHEREAS, through their stirring victory at the Fiesta Bowl completing an undefeated season, the Broncos have represented not only their excellent athletics program, but also the dedication, courage and commitment to excellence found at Boise State University and espoused by all Idahoans; and WHEREAS, the leadership and motivation he displayed throughout the perfect season earned Coach Chris Petersen the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award as the 2006 national Coach of the Year; and WHEREAS, the people of the State of Idaho and throughout America were inspired by the Broncos’ New Year’s Day performance at the Fiesta Bowl, and it is appropriate to recognize the team’s achievements; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH”
OTTER Governor of the State of Idaho do hereby proclaim the month of BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY BRONCOS FOOTBALL MONTH in Idaho, and on behalf of all Idahoans wish to congratulate the Boise State
University Broncos for their perfect season, Western Athletic Conference
championship and victory at the Fiesta Bowl.
