WHEREAS, Idaho has a wonderful and storied history of hunting, fishing and trapping; and WHEREAS, Idaho sportsmen have worked hard to protect our outdoor heritage through meaningful involvement in determining wildlife management policy; and WHEREAS, Idaho sportsmen have a positive history of cooperation and collaboration with the various branches of Idaho state government in an effort to protect and enhance our wildlife and their environment; and WHEREAS, Idaho sportsmen are conservationists who take their wildlife stewardship responsibilities seriously; and WHEREAS, Idaho sportsmen value hunting ethics and support the standards of fair chase; and WHEREAS, Idaho sportsmen demonstrate their commitment to the future through educating the youth of the State about their important role in wildlife management; and WHEREAS, Idaho sportsmen value and support continuing education and research regarding our wildlife and their environment; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby officially declare the eleventh day of January, two thousand and seven IDAHO SPORTSMEN’S DAY and do strongly encourage all Idahoans to assist the sportsmen of this State in preserving, protecting, perpetuating and managing our wildlife ensuring hunting, fishing, and trapping for future generations.
