Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the Idaho State Historical Society appointed Keith Petersen as Interim Director on November 6, 2007, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen assumed the responsibility of crafting the first strategic plan; an undertaking important for the future of the Idaho State Historical Society and vital for the Idaho State Historical Museum’s re-accreditation, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen prepared and executed the agency’s FY2007-2008 budget development process and presented a compelling case for support to the Joint Finance and Appropriation Committee, resulting in an enhanced FY budget for the agency, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen directed the nationwide search for a new agency director, including creating the recruitment, interview, and selection process, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen formed a new fiscal office, thus enhancing the agency’s ability to meet and exceed its fiscal obligation on behalf of the citizens of Idaho, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen served many concurrent roles including the agency representative to the Capitol Commission and the Governor’s Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Committee, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen fostered a new sense of teamwork among his colleagues at the Idaho State Historical Society, resulting in a positive work environment and enhanced staff relations, and Whereas, Interim Director Keith Petersen’s passion for the Idaho State Historical Society inspired many external to the agency, building a strong respect for the Idaho State Historical Society during its centennial year. NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “Butch” Otter, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim July 18, 2007, as KEITH PETERSEN RECOGNITION DAY
