WHEREAS, the United States Army was established by the First Continental Congress on the 14th day of June, 1775; and WHEREAS, the United States Army exists to defend the freedom of our citizens and our nation’s security interests; and WHEREAS, many citizens of Idaho have served their nation and given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as members of the United States Army; and WHEREAS, it is proper to recognize the United States Army annually on its birthday, and to thank those who have served and those who are presently servings; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH OTTER”, Governor of Idaho, do hereby proclaim June 14th, 2007, as the United States Army’s 232nd birthday and declare the period from June 10th through June 17th, 2007 UNITED STATES ARMY WEEK in Idaho. I exhort all citizens to join with me in this salute as we express our gratitude to those who have served and those who are now serving to protect our nation and its freedoms.
