WHEREAS, we, as citizens of this great nation, enjoy freedoms granted by God and enshrined by our Founding Fathers in such documents as the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States; and WHEREAS, James Madison, the “father of the Constitution,” helped create the strong form of government that we know today; and WHEREAS, through James Madison’s inspiration, generations past and still unborn have the opportunity to enjoy the blessings of liberty; and WHEREAS, James Madison served our country honorably in the U. S. House of Representatives, as Secretary of State, and as President; and WHEREAS, it is important that we set aside a day to remind us of our freedoms and to honor our Founding Fathers, especially on the 256th anniversary of the birth of James Madison; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim March 16, 2007 to be L I B E R T Y D A Y in Idaho.
