WHEREAS, the future of Idaho public education lies in the quality of aspiring young teachers; and WHEREAS, the quality of the young teacher is related to the aptitude of the aspiring young teacher; and WHEREAS, the aptitude of the aspiring young teacher can be enhanced by mentoring programs within our local schools; and WHEREAS, many school districts across Idaho are anticipating record numbers of educators retiring in the near future; and WHEREAS, to provide quality candidates for the vacancies, those students who interested in the teaching profession will require guidance and nurturing; and WHEREAS, the Growing Idaho’s Future Teachers or GIFT Program pairs young people with mentoring opportunities; and WHEREAS, once provided with mentoring opportunities, those individual will be assured of their potential and aptitude to teach successfully; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH”
