WHEREAS, the United States Navy was established by the Continental Congress on the 13th day of October, 1775; and
WHEREAS, the United States Navy exists to defend the freedom of our citizens and our nation’s security interests; and
WHEREAS, many citizens of Idaho have served their nation and given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as members of the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, it is proper to recognize the United States Navy annually on its birthday, and to thank those who have served and those who are now servings;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of Idaho, do hereby proclaim October 13th, 2007, as the United States Navy’s 232nd birthday and declare the period from October 14th through October 20th, 2007
UNITED STATES NAVY WEEK
in Idaho. I exhort all citizens to
join with me in this salute as we express our gratitude to those who have served
and those who are now serving to protect our nation and freedoms.
