WHEREAS, the State of Idaho and Taiwan maintain and cherish a long-standing traditional friendship; and

        WHEREAS, people from both Idaho and Taiwan share the same values of freedom and democracy; and

        WHEREAS, Idaho and Taiwan have close trade and cultural ties; and

        WHEREAS, Idaho wishes to maintain the close relationship with Taiwan for years to come;

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim October 10, 2007, to be

National Day of the Republic of China

in Idaho.
