WHEREAS, today, two out of every three Americans are overweight or obese; and
WHEREAS, a recent study found that today’s youth may become the first generation to live shorter lives than their parents due to the rapid rise in obesity rates; and
WHEREAS, obesity significantly increases the risk of such serous chronic diseases as diabetes, heart disease and some cancers; and
WHEREAS, according to the U.S. Surgeon General, policy makers and health professionals must embrace small steps toward coordinated policy and environmental changes that will help Americans live longer, better, healthier lives; and
WHEREAS, America on the Move week at the YMCA brings fun physical activities to families, encouraging long-term positive changes for everyone in our state and our communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim September 24-28, 2007 to be
