WHEREAS, Boise State University is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the September 6, 1932 founding of the institution that started as Boise Junior College; and WHEREAS, Boise State University is the largest university in Idaho, serving almost 19,000 students with outstanding faculty, including 10 Idaho Professor of the Year honorees; and WHEREAS, Boise State University is Idaho's metropolitan research university, located in the state's population center and capital city, offering courses in more than 190 fields of interest, including the fastest-growing biomolecular research program in Idaho, and more than 50 centers and institutes on campus; and WHEREAS, Boise State is home to the Fiesta Bowl champion Bronco Football Team; and WHEREAS, Boise State University enriches the community and the state of Idaho through service, business, partnerships and public events, hosting more than 1 million visitors annually to cultural, civic and academic events; and WHEREAS, Boise State University has produced two Rhodes Scholars, a Truman Scholar, a Mitchell Scholar, a USA Today Academic All-American, several NCAA Academic All-Americans, several NCAA post-graduate scholars and many Fulbright scholars and professors; and WHEREAS, I am proud as a former student to celebrate the 75th anniversary with other students, faculty and alumni; and WHEREAS, Boise State generates $330 million for the economy of the state in the form of jobs, earnings and sales while educating the work force of tomorrow; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim September 6, 2007, to be “BOISE STATE DAY”
