WHEREAS, the Holocaust was the state-sponsored systematic persecution and annihilation of European Jewry by Nazi Germany and its collaborators between 1933 and 1945; Jews were the primary victims – six million were murdered; and WHEREAS, gypsies, the handicapped and Poles also were targeted for racial, ethnic or national reasons while millions more, including homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Soviet prisoners of war and political dissidents, also suffered grievous oppression and death under Nazi tyranny; and WHEREAS, MAX FULLMER, CITIZEN OF IDAHO, WWII VETERAN AND DACHAU CAMP LIBERATOR, has indeed acted upon his moral responsibilities and continues to strongly reflect on the moral responsibilities of individuals, societies and governments; and WHEREAS, MAX FULLMER, CITIZEN OF IDAHO, WWII VETERAN AND DACHAU CAMP LIBERATOR, has indeed and continues to strongly remember the terrible events of the Holocaust that he personally witnessed and he remains forever vigilant against bigotry and tyranny; and WHEREAS, MAX FULLMER, CITIZEN OF IDAHO, WWII VETERAN AND DACHAU CAMP LIBERATOR, has indeed and continues to strongly to rededicate himself to the principles of equality and justice for all; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “Butch”
Otter, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby honor and invite all citizens
of Idaho to honor MAX FULLMER, CITIZEN OF IDAHO, WWII VETERAN AND DACHAU CAMP
LIBERATOR an exemplary individual who clearly remembers the inhumanity of those who perpetrated the Holocaust and has clearly respected all peoples through his thoughts and his actions.
