WHEREAS, the Meyer family has been a fixture in Rathdrum for more than 40 years; and WHEREAS, there are four Meyer brothers, including three who moved to the Rathdrum prairie in 1964 to farm more than 3,000 acres; and WHEREAS, the Meyer family has generously given 10 acres of ground to go along with 40 acres being purchase by the Lakeland School District, 40 acres being purchased by the Post Falls School District and 10 acres being purchased by the Manufacturer's Consortium for the purpose of jointly offering a Professional Technical High School; and WHEREAS, the Meyer brothers have been influential not only in Rathdrum but throughout the State; and WHEREAS, Wayne Meyer served the people of Rathdrum in the Idaho Legislature for 10 years; and WHEREAS, Wayne Meyer has always been active in the Rathdrum community having refereed basketball for 22 years, and being active with northern Idaho’s agricultural community; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim December 17, 2008, as MEYER BROTHERS DAY
