WHEREAS, the progress and well-being of the citizens of Idaho depend to a great extent upon excellence in education and training for the highly technological “World of Work” as provided in the school systems of this state; and WHEREAS, Professional-Technical Education is a vital force in developing workers to meet the economic and technological demands of a rapidly changing and complex society; and WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States and the Legislature of the State of Idaho recognize these problems and have acted upon them through appropriate legislation; and WHEREAS, professional contributions to Professional-Technical Education in Idaho help our youth and adults prepare to meet their employment needs; and WHEREAS, the month of February is established as “Professional-Technical Education Month,” and is supported by Professional-Technical Education of Idaho and the Association for Career and Technical Education, NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “Butch”
Otter, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the month of February
2008 to be PROFESSIONAL-TECHNICAL EDUCATION MONTH in Idaho, and I urge all Idahoans to observe this month through recognition
of the importance of its theme, “Connecting Education and Careers,” and through
becoming better acquainted with Professional-Technical Education, its purposes
and programs, by visiting professional-technical institutions and attendance at
programs being held throughout the state.
